IP Static/Dynamic
Static is good for servers if you want to always only need to look in the same place without having to constantly look for a different one
Dynamic is good to keep your identity safe
There is a picture showing you with the ISP TekSavvy, with any plan, you can add on a static IP for and extra 4 dollars.

Database Reasons
Why track contact info in a DB instead of a spread sheet?
-Because with Access, you can put the Data into a report and sort your contacts by any way you'd like
Describe 2 ways that you expect to retrieve the data when you need to run a report and when you need to search a table
-One way would be using a Query and the other would be building a form.

Evening all,
Today in class we started lesson 7 of our IC3 booklet and grinded through some more A+ notes. Our IC3 lesson was about Windows Common Features.we did stuff like Customizing preferences in all the office apps and messed around with the Program Defaults.
A+ notes were about Windows Troubleshooting and Fixing Hard drives. After that, Tyler and I began a new task. To load Windows Vista onto our dual boot computer and make it triple bootable! We have just finished partitioning the drive and will update on it as we continue the task. For your guys' A+ snack, I found a forum about someone who triple booted Vista, XP and Mac OS Leopard. Give 'er a read.
Thanks,
Quinn

Evenin' all
Today was all stuff on IC3 and our IDS prep.
We finished the first part of our IC3 textbook, so we did a practice test. I BARELY failed which disappoints me greatly because I thought I knew what I was talking about in that quiz.
After that we spent time working on our post course Resumes and cover letters as well as do some more practice calls. I'm glad we do these exercises because even tho I am an actor and have no problem talking in front of people, I do still have a hard time talking over the phone. I think I'm gonna nail that phone call when I have to make it.
That was pretty much it for today, night.

Howdy,
Today started off with some IC3 talking about boot processes aswell as some mild troubleshooting and cloud storage comparisons. Check out my previous posts involving unresponsive mice and a comparison table talking about Skydrive, Google Drive, Lenovo Sugar Sync ad Ubuntu One.
After that we spent the rest of the day wiping hard drives and (starting from scratch might I add) successfully install Windows 7 and a LINUX distribution and then be able to properly dual boot. Needless to say, Tyler and I got it working after one retry. (also the first ones to do it)
Thats it for today,

Hey Guys,
Today in class we spent most of the day doing IC3 stuff. Our A+ Material consisted of Registry Notes. I found some stuff talking about registry if anyone is interested in learning more about the subject.
part two of the day was me being the first one to successfully Dual-Boot Lubuntu and Ubuntu 10.0 alongside eachother. Not without my share of errors tho. But still successful in the end!.
I recomend Checking out Lubuntu if you have even a mild interest in LINUX based Operating Systems. It's fun to use and can be good for many things
Thanks all,
Quinn

Greetings Earthlings,
Today we did some more IC3 Stuff. Today we started Lesson 4: Control Panel.
As a take away thing, don't buy those "clip" USB flash drives if you plan to use them to boot a computer with as they wont work. (this was my problem)
We did a couple of different things including Changing Displays, Customization and messing around with Screensavers. Pretty simple and straightforward but still fun.
After that, we spent about an hour on booting up our USB Drives that we slaved over all day yesterday. I Finally went out and bought another USB drive and finally the I got the damn thing to work. I successfully installed windows and got the drivers installed and walked away with a finished product.
These are the suckers.
That's all folks.
Quinn

Hello there,
So today our main focus was to get Windows XP to boot from a USB drive. The damn thing wouldn't work on my USB drive, and after much trouble shooting I determined that it was my flash drive just wouldnt work for it. So because of it, I dont have much to day today. HOWEVER for anyone still having trouble or people you know haing trouble trying to boot XP off USB, this guide should help
Untill tomorrow,
Quinn

Hey there,
Today we did a small bit of IC3 but mainly did A+ involving troubleshooting our own rigs. Mr McNeil gave us a couple set of things to try out involving taking certain parts out of the computer at a time and documenting what happened every time we turned it on.
That, and we still grinded away at bootable USB drives
Thanks.
Quinn.

Hello All,
Today we took a break from A+ to start our IC3 textbooks witch took us through a very simple guide to operating systems. What informed me the most from today actually was the info we got on linux based Operating Systems. Now I have a general knowledge on Linux OS' but I took this after school time to really get into looking at UBUNTU specifically. So in my journey through the world wide web, I am sharing this In Depth Look At UBUNTU. This was really cool to read and I am for sure going to get into more Linux based stuff. Expecially cause it's open source.
For all you gamers out there or people who are interested (and hopefully if you havent heard about it already): I present to you, THIS! the best and most relevant part about it? Its Linux Based!!!
See ya tomorrow,
Quinn

Oh! I didn't see you there,
Today we focused on Troubleshooting PC problems from video cards to speakers with a little hint of CD cloning to cap off yesterdays storage topic. Anyways, Troubleshooting. We took many notes on how to address the customer as well as on how to find the problem. We then looked up flow charts and made them on what specification we chose. I chose Speakers. Now to be honest, I didn't finish my flow chart and got frustrated and scrapped it. HOWEVER, I found this one that I thought was pretty good:
Now satire asside, it is pretty accurate.
Later on in the day, we made a powerpoint talking about 5 common questions to ask to a customer when they're in need of IT support
There you go. Now if I were to add some advice, really, just dont be mean to whoever needs help. It means you can get the job done quicker and more efficiently and potentially bringing in new business.
That's all folks!

Evening all,
Today we focused on the A+ section of our course and talked about secondary storage involving CDs DVD's and I guess Hard drives but we've already talked about them earlier in the course.
I was browsing the internet looking for things to add to my notes and I came across This link explaining the differences between primary and secondary storage. Its a nice little read.
Unfortunately thats all I got for today.
,
Until Tomorrow,
Quinn
